Working in the Forest Most of the Day, Nice

What to do

I was thinking of going kayaking today but after doing some chair hopping I thought I might go kayaking this evening.

Checking out the quad

My quad runner has been dying on me which seems to be from lack of gas. The gas tank is full.

So I thought I better at least have a look at it so I got under it and couldn’t see anything wrong.

Testing and some work

I thought some more testing would be good so I decided to ride up into the hills and work on the spring pipe road crossings as I needed to put the plastic spring water pipe inside the steel road crossing pipes. I also wanted to reroute some of the spring water pipe as this winter I plan to bury as much of it as I can. Burying it will help stop a forest fire from burning it up and it will also help stop wild animals from chewing into it which they occasionally do.’

Work area

I rode the quad up into the hills to this pipe crossing sight. I had to do some rearranging of the plastic pipe up above this area which I did.

I got the black plastic pipe into the underground steel pipe which is on the left where it goes under the road.

2nd crossing

Next I drove on to the next crossing  below that one to here and parked by the pipe post as I needed a ladder to get up to unhook the black plastic pipe which I did.

I had to go up above this one and rearrange the pipe so now I’m ready to shove it though the metal pipe by the rocks.

Things got a little wet as water is still coming down the pipe but I got it into the metal pipe and hooked it up. 2 down and 1 more to go for the day.

This is the pipe where it goes down hill to the next crossing where I’m headed. Lots of exercise walking around the hills as what goes up must come down and what goes down must come up.

Third one done too

I got the third crossing done. The day was so nice I decided not to kayak for the evening and I was a bit tired out anyway. Maybe I’ll get to that tomorrow.

Checking out a spring

On the way home I stopped and walked down this road a ways. There’s a spring down there I wanted to see if there was any water at it.

There is a puddle, enough for the birds and wild animals.

Lots of acorns this year

On the way back up the road I noticed there is a huge crop of tan oak acorns this year. The Indian’s used to eat these nuts after they processed them.

I made it back home and it was late in the day so I just checked on the chickens an did some chair hopping around the yard.

Nice day.

My Live Writer that I use to write my blog wouldn’t post tonight for some reason so I have to try out this WordPress composer so we’ll see how it turns out. A bit of a learning curve.

The post came through just like always.

Had an elderly neighbor who once told me that the bigger the acorns the harder the winter. Haven’t been out to check the acorns in the side lot so far this fall – must do that.
