Van’s New Inverter Gets Mounted and Easter Dinner

New inverter mount

I’d ordered up this invertor for the van awhile back and today was the day to get it mounted in the van.inverter

Where

The first thing I needed to do was figure out where to put it in the van so it would be out of the way and in a useful spot. I’m real limited where I can put it in the van as most of the spots are already taken with something else. I studied that for awhile checking in a couple of spots to see how it fits and how it would work and finally settled on a spot.

Brackets

Unfortunately the spot I picked, the brackets that came with the unit would not work. After some more checking things out, I decided to go ahead and fabricate what I needed with what I had to work with.

I cut some metal and welded a piece of angle iron to a piece of flat bar to get the size mounts I needed and made two of them and drilled some holes where needed. My new brackets don’t look quite as nice as the new one to the left, but the new ones should work and that’s more important then how they look. I thought of painting the new brackets but that would mean I wouldn’t get this done today, so the heck with the paint. Function over looks is more important to  me.brakets

I screwed the brackets onto the inverter so it was now ready to mount.braket

I got the new inverter mounted but ran out of time and didn’t get it wired up yet.mounted

Easter dinner

I had to quit and get cleaned up to go to Easter dinner at my brother Barry’s place. I drank some of Barry’s very good home made wine while we sat around shooting the bull, then we  had a nice dinner with a nice desert that Dominique made that was very good. Desserts are her specialty. Barry’s wife, Mary Jane made most of the dinner and she bakes a real good loft of home made bread.

Nice day.
