Restful Day, Van Gas Vent Unplugged and a Few Woodchips Moved Too

Tuesday April 26, 2022 Guerneville CA.

Lazy day

After getting pretty worn out yesterday it seemed like it would be a good idea to take it easy today and gave my body a break.

Making vitamin D

I did a lot of chair hopping around the yard and spending some time watching my chickens do their thing. It was a nice day with the sun out and a little wind, so I sat in the sun and made vitamin D with my shirt off.birds

Some van work

I’ve been thinking I need to find out why my van’s gas tank wasn’t venting like it should so I set up my blanket to crawl under there to have a look see.van

Gas tank vent

The little hose and the little pipe off to the right is the vent system and seems to be plugged up.hoses

Works now

I took it all apart and found the vent pipe was plugged up. I tried to clear the plug but couldn’t so just made another vent pipe and installed that and that should work better now. I wish I  had a better way to vent the gas tank but for now that’s the best I can do.

Unfortunately

While I was laying under there, when I turned over I saw this over my head. Broken shackles on the leaf spring at the right rear wheel. It looks like they’ve been broken for a couple years or so. I had noticed my van was leaning a tiny bit to that side but didn’t think much about it has it’s an old van, but now I know why and need to fix it soon.shackle

I did brush off the threads and put some oil on them to help loosen them up for now.

More taken it easy

After that it was a lot more chair hopping and some naps.

Moving woodchips

I’d noticed the chip truck guys had dumped another load of woodchips this morning before I got up. They were nice redwood chips so I moved a few loads around the yard just to add to the soil in some places.chips

One of the loads I dumped here and think I’ll make a pile here to rot and decay and make good mulch.mulch

I sat around outside until it got dark when I came on into the house for the day.

Nice day.
