Pruning the Pink Pearl and Puttering Around the Yard

Monday February 3, 2020 Guerneville CA.

Yard putter day

I started out the day moving two more wheelbarrows of woodchips to the raspberry patch. That got me loosened up and got me going for the day.

I gave the chickens some extra goodies this morning that they are enjoying eating.grazers

Van prep

I need to get my van loaded up and prepped for a trip to Arizona so I at least went through all my stuff to see what I need to do. I have almost a week to get it all done so I can take my time.

I noticed the daffodils are blooming out so springs on the way and maybe here already.daffs

Pruning the apple tree

I was looking at my pink pearl apple tree the other day and decided it would be a good idea to get it pruned so I got out the tools and started in on it. That’s it on the right. Pink Pearl apples are pinkish inside, crispy and very tasty too.tree

I had to use a ladder to get the top but I got it done just poking along with some breaks here and there.pruned

Those darn blackberry vines

I also worked on cutting some more blackberry vines out that are taking over the yard. I just walk around the yard with my pruners and cut ones here and there that are growing too fast. It’s a never ending job and the vines will win in the long run.

Carrot patch

In the afternoon I was walking by my brother’s carrot patch and was thinking some carrots would be nice.carrots

So I picked four of them and washed them off and ate two of them for now. That leaves two for later.carrot

Chickens know the time

Around 4 PM the chickens know it’s time to be let out into the front yard to graze so they all line up saying, hey open the gate. I usually do and let them have at it for the last two hours of the day.gate

In the evening I did some chair hopping until the day started to cool down and I went on in for the day.

Nice day puttering around the yard.
