Checked Out the Old Van and Am Ready to Go on the Oregon Trip

Saturday October 26, 2013 Guerneville, CA.

I was going to do some tractor work today,…..But

Yes, I was thinking I’d do a little bulldozer work today and then go for a kayak.

But last night, in bed, I was thinking I should give my back a rest after the car work I just did. So, this morning I decided maybe it would be a good idea to grease and check the van out to get it ready to go. I still had a lot of things to pack in it too.

I greased the van, checked the engine fluids and the transmission and transfer case fluids and cleaned the windows too, checked the tires for proper air pressure.

It’s good to go now.

More packing

After that, I started packing some more stuff in the van. Clothes, what to bring. Going to Oregon, where it is colder and maybe a little on the damp side too, so I needed more types of clothes, just in case. finding places to stuff them in the van was the hard part. Likely have more than I need now.

Kayak and kayak stuff loaded and tied down.

More Food

I went over to my brothers next door and got some eggs and potatoes and onions as he grows all that stuff for organic markets. Lots of other little things to add for cooking and eating and then I puttered in the yard for awhile.

I’m still adding little things, some stuff has to wait until I’m ready to go, but I’m almost ready, just a couple more things.

The plan

My plan is to head for the Oregon border tomorrow and stop just over that border, just below Brookings, at a river called the Winchuck, where I hope to find a place to camp for the night.

That will set me up for a kayak on the Winchuck river the next day and from there I will go to the Arizona Lodge, just below Port Orford. I’m not staying there, but Steve is, so I will meet up with him and we plan to do some exploring.

All this means is, I’ll be off on another adventure tomorrow, which I’m looking forward to.
