Taking a chance
It was raining lightly as I got up this morning and the weather guy said it was going to rain throughout the day so I wasn’t sure what I should do today. Maybe it wouldn’t be raining down at Jenner, or just a little so I decided to go down and have a look. He did say the winds would be ten miles an hour which was another bad sign.
It drizzled all the way, driving down to Jenner which wasn’t a good sign.
As I pulled into Jenner it was raining lightly and yes the wind was up a bit, so I drove on down to the river’s mouth overlook just past the town of Jenner to have a look at things.
It didn’t look too bad, but I got lots of rain drops on my camera in a short time as I got out to take a few pictures.
The mouth is open
The river’s mouth is open wide.
The harbor seals looked like they were nice and cozy with their winter coats.
And I could see this great blue heron fishing down below me.
Not looking good
Things didn’t look real good to go kayaking, but I wasn’t convinced yet. I drove back to the boat ramp and parked for a bit thinking I could go out on the river, but as I was sitting there thinking about it, the rain picked up some for a bit, Ok, I got the idea and decided to go on home where it was nice and cozy. That seemed like a good idea as the wind seemed to be picking up too.
Drove back to Monte Rio
I stopped at Monte Rio on the way home to see if there was any fishing action on the river. I saw a guy fishing out of his kayak, but didn’t see anyone else, but I did see quite a few cars and trucks parked in the parking lot, so there must have been some fishing going on. I thought about putting my boat in as there was less wind in Monte Rio, but the rain was coming down some, so I went on home and fired up the stove and had something to eat as it continued to rain.
Something I ate
Unfortunately, something in what I ate kicked off my food allergy which caused some severe body itching which made for a rough day.
I spent most of the day doing mostly nothing which I don’t do very often and that was pretty much my day.
